UNIFORM REGULATIONS - RANGIORA HIGH SCHOOL

The Board of Trustees, through the Principal, expects full co-operation of all students and parents in maintaining a high standard of dress code in every situation. Rangiora High School uniform shop is now operated and managed by UNIFORM GROUP. Students must demonstrate high standards of personal presentation by wearing their uniform correctly and with pride in the school. Students should also keep their uniform clean, tidy and well maintained.

FOOTWEAR

Polishable leather (not suede), mid brown or black school shoe with a low heel. Shoes must be closed in. Shoes must be all black or brown with no labels or other colours on them. Brown or black sandals may be worn in summer. Sandals may not be worn in Science laboratories and Technology rooms where practical work is taking place.

JEWELLERY

A watch and one stud in each ear lobe are permitted. Nose, chin or piercings are not allowed & should not be visible. If students have piercings, these must be free of studs during the school day. New piercings are discouraged during term time and must be covered with a plaster. If you wish to wear a piece of greenstone/bone Taonga on a piece of string or twine, that is acceptable. Any other jewellery should be worn under your blouse/shirt/dress and not be visible.

HAIR

Students are expected to have well-groomed hair. If hair is coloured, it should be using natural colours only and no pink, yellow, purple, lime green, red or blue tints. Extreme hairstyles or colours are not acceptable and students will be asked to remedy them. Hair, if worn long, may be required to be tied back for safety reasons in science labs and in technology rooms Facial hair - boys are to be clean shaven.

NON REGULATION CLOTHING

Students who wear incorrect uniform should bring a note from home and present this to their Head of House on arrival at school. The student may be issued with a clean replacement item to wear for the day or a uniform pass to carry for the day. Students without a note may have non-uniform clothing impounded and, if appropriate, be given a clean replacement item to wear. Non-regulation clothing is named and stored in the office and is returned to students on the next mufti day or at the end of term, whichever comes first.

WHAT UNIFORM DO I WEAR?

The Rangiora High School uniform is broken into Senior (Years 11-13), AND Junior (Years 9-10), Unisex Items – Hats, Shoes etc (All Years), and the PE Uniform. These categories include Summer and Winter options. The summer uniform is recommended to be worn until the end of Queen's Birthday weekend and again from the beginning of September each year. The winter uniform is worn in June, July and August each year. We expect students to be able to make their own decision about when to wear summer/winter options according to the weather and their own comfort. Both senior and junior uniform styles have unisex options. We want our students to be comfortable in what they are wearing while making sure they are tidy and meeting the uniform code for the school.
